The Sussex Academy girls’ lacrosse team moved to the semifinals of the DIAA state tournament May 20, with a 19-13 win over Ursuline Academy in Georgetown.

Emiley Bisaha and Shelby Manlove scored six and five goals, respectively, to lead the Seahawks. Sanne Elling and Jacqueline Thomas both scored twice, while Natalee Petty, Rilyn Lehman, Callie Short and Elizabeth Merrick each hit the twine once.

Elling assisted on two goals, while Bisaha and Merrick tallied one helper.

“Ursuline definitely showed up to play today,” said Sussex Academy coach Taylor Gibbs. “I think we kept the pressure and speed for the game. We made a lot of changes as a team today, and our team adjusted very well to those changes. I’m very happy, proud and excited for our team.”

The Seahawks (12-4) will play top-seeded Cape Henlopen at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, at Delaware State University. Cape (15-1) defeated Wilmington Charter 22-2 in the quarterfinals.
