Tequila Real cuts ribbon in Milton

January 9, 2020

It was a festive day Dec. 6 as Milton’s newest restaurant, Tequila Real, officially cut the ribbon, serenading the occasion with, what else, a mariachi band.

Tequila Real opened Nov. 7, owned by Maria Ruiz and Jose Herrera, who own three other Mexican restaurants near their native California, Md. Employees, customers, Town Manager Kristy Rogers and Mayor Ted Kanakos all came out for the ribbon-cutting at the Mulberry Street restaurant.

Originally from Mexico, Ruiz and Herrera paid homage to their home city of Penjamo in Guanajuato when naming the restaurant; the city is home to Real de Penjamo tequila.
