Tom Arkinson resigns from Milton council

March 10, 2026

A year after winning a full term on council, Milton Councilman Tom Arkinson has resigned his seat.

Mayor John Collier announced Arkinson’s resignation at council’s March 2 meeting. He did not give a reason why Arkinson chose to resign.

“The reason I decided to resign was that it was more than I felt I could handle in an effective way for the people of Milton,” Arkinson said. “What I enjoyed most about the job was meeting many of the people in the community.”

Arkinson was appointed to council in 2023 to fulfill the term of Councilwoman Annette Babich after she resigned the seat. He ran for a full term in 2025. He was elected with 428 votes, second to Councilman Robert Gray.

On council, Arkinson was the treasurer and served as the chair of the finance committee. Arkinson moved to Milton full time in 2006 and was involved in numerous community activities, including being part of the 200th anniversary committee and serving on the board of the Milton Community Foundation.
