TurtleFest to raise money for family of Steven Alawishus Johnson
Grain On The Rocks in Lewes is set to host TurtleFest from 3 to 6 p.m., Sunday Oct. 10. Proceeds from the benefit concert will go to the family of Steven Alawishus Johnson, who died suddenly recently, leaving behind his wife who was expecting their first child two weeks later.
Recently, Grain worked with Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park and Johnson to create a shirt that would help raise money for the Friends. The Friends group has decided that the funds will instead go to Johnson’s family.
To raise more money, Grain will host the benefit concert featuring Reverse Giraffe and Lower Case Blues. The concert will be held like previous Rocking the Docks events, where guests reserve a square for $40 for up to six people. Friends volunteers will deliver orders of food and drinks to the squares, with all tips going to Johnson’s family.
The event is named TurtleFest because of Johnson’s love of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and nature.
Tickets are available at rockingthedocks.com. For more information, go to meetatgrain.com.
