Unity to hold annual Burning Bowl ceremony Dec. 29

Event marks transition from old year to new
December 24, 2019

Unity Spiritual Center, a spiritual community, will bridge the old year with the new during its annual Burning Bowl ceremony at 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 29. Located at 98 Rudder Road, Suite 1-A, Unity welcomes people of all faiths, lifestyles and interests to welcome 2020 in a sacred way.

Spiritual Leader Sandy Souder said, “It's a very meaningful ceremony. Before you make new year’s resolutions, it's a good idea to release what no longer serves you and might inhibit your success. So, we write down what we want to release on tracing paper and watch it go up in flames. It’s very exciting to see! When that’s done, we’ll share a guided meditation to help us capture our dreams for the new year, and we’ll use paper and an envelope to write a letter to ourselves about what we want to create in our lives in 2020.”

Each participant’s letter goes into a self-addressed envelope and will be mailed to them in early summer.

“It’s a nice reminder of our goals and objectives mid-year. People experience much more success when they receive the reminder in the middle of the year – and they really love the getting the letter in the mail,” said Souder. “The whole event happens in about an hour, so you can easily start your year with this meaningful ceremony.”
