Hello to friends and neighbors of the Delaware Electric Cooperative.
Alert! Alert! Electronic voting for the 2023 board election will end at 8 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 10. Voting can be accomplished many ways thereafter and even in person Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the Delaware State Fairgrounds during the annual meeting. Hopefully, I will see you there. Make your reservations.
Yes, we know how important our right to vote is! I would appreciate your consideration, please, for a gentleman who has spent 40 years in the utility industry and is now willing to add his rich experiences to our Sussex County needs. Please vote for Matthew Hastings for the at-large position!
He has enriched our communities with his time and volunteerism since moving to the Rehoboth Beach area more than two decades ago, serving with the Rehoboth Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, as a board member of Coastal Concerts, as a member of the advisory board of the Rehoboth Beach Library, and as a volunteer with multiple food banks. Mat graduated from SUNY Potsdam and Penn State.
But, most importantly, look at his four-decade experience in the utility industry. Please consider his experience:
• Headed co-op electricity national consulting group for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, undertaking management audits, strategic planning, new business opportunities, member relations and market research for co-ops from the Florida Keys to Alaska
• Worked for New York Power Authority, Chesapeake Utilities/Sharp Propane, the World Bank and Edison Electric Institute.
Mat wants to join the board to bring his industry, and specifically electric co-op, experience to help DEC continue to deal with the challenges and opportunities of rapid growth in membership.
Please cast your vote for Mat Hastings. I don't know of another candidate with such a wealth of knowledge combined with the time to do a really great job for our interests as cooperative members.
