West Marine donates $1,500 to Sea Scouts

September 8, 2019

Don May, store manager of West Marine #1345 Rehoboth Beach, presented a check for $1,500 to Cheyenne Snyder, boatswain of Sea Scout Ship 198 in Lewes-Milton, for the Sea Scouts’ participation in the grand opening of West Marine’s new store next to Walmart.

The funds will go toward the Sea Scouts’ $10,000 fund drive to rebuild the engines and purchase new sails for the two large sailboats in their fleet.

Sea Scout Ship 198, SSS Coupe De Tete, is a division of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women ages 14 to 21. It is a youth-run organization whose program focuses on activities on, about or under the water. They meet from 6 to 9 p.m. each Wednesday at Lewes Canalfront Park Marina. No previous scouting experience is necessary. For more information, contact Skipper Al Herman at 302-381-9890
