Westminster Presbyterian Church hosts ice cream social

July 25, 2021

Ice cream and fun were the order of the evening July 19, as Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rehoboth Beach hosted an ice cream social on the church lawn.

Everyone was invited to hear live music by Keith Mack, enjoy a delectable frozen treat from Hopkins Farm Creamery near Lewes, play lawn games and win prizes.

“The night was a big hit,” said the Rev. Dr. Shannon Smythe, Westminster Presbyterian Church pastor. “To have a beautiful summer night where new acquaintances were made, all generations were mingling, and money was not a barrier to fun and community was simply magical. After so much disconnection and isolation over the past 15 months, I hope many experienced the event as healing and hopeful.”

Smythe offered kudos to the Westminster Presbyterian Church deacons who conceived and organized the event. “The congregation embraced it fully with over 40 volunteers lending a hand in a variety of ways to make the night so memorable,” she said. “We are so grateful to Hopkins Creamery for such delicious ice cream, and our musicians, Keith Mack and Jim Ciccone, were the icing on the ice cream cake.”
