Two decades after starting WMF Watercraft and Marine in the back of his Ford Escort, Bill Forenski said the key to success and growth has been customer service.

“That’s something I’ve prided myself on the whole time,” said Forenski. “I want to make it easy. Boats are fun, and I try to make the boat-buying experience fun.”

WMF Watercraft and Marine is hosting is 6th annual Labor Day sale Friday, Aug. 30 to Sunday, Sept. 1. Forenski said the goal is to sell off his 2019 stock and show off 2020 models. He said factory representatives from Avalon and Tahoe will be on site.

WMF Watercraft and Marine has two locations – sales immediately off Route 24; service off Oak Orchard Road. Forenski said he can remember driving around in his Escort, fixing Jet Skis on site. He opened the boat division in 2010, began focusing on pontoon boat sales in 2012 and, he said, since 2013 has been annually recognized as top 10 in sales for Avalon and Tahoe pontoon boats.

Forenski said another key to WMF’s success is promoting high-powered pontoon boats, a category of the cruiser he says he pretty much created. Walking out to a 2019 Avalon with black, chrome and sea-green trim, and twin 400-hp racing engines, Forenski said he rides around the bays all summer garnering attention.

“We’re out there on the sandbars having a good time with our customers every weekend,” he said.

Forenski said he’s always looking to expand the products offered by the business. He said WMF Watercraft and Marine will soon be selling NauticStar Boats. “We’re going to see what happens,” said Forenski on his expectations for the new line of boats.

WMF Watercraft and Marine will have special hours for the sale – primarily being open Sunday and closed Monday for Labor Day. The sale takes place at the Route 24 location, 27037 John J Williams Highway, Millsboro, which will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, Aug. 30 to Sunday, Sept. 2. “By Monday I’m worn out,” said Forenski.
