The Lewes Chamber of Commerce officiated the relocation of the Lewes Historical Society’s museum store to the Zwaanendael Club building with a ribbon cutting ceremony May 24. Located at 302 Savannah Road, the museum store houses a unique collection of handmade items, collections-based merchandise, books, and fun, vintage Lewes apparel.

The store aims to exhibit and sell locally sourced creations from craftspeople based in Lewes and Sussex County, such as artisans who have exhibited at the Lewes Historical Society’s Summer Craft Fair and the Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass and Coastal Arts Festival.

Running the store are Anne Hilaman and Suzanne Jones as well as other volunteers, and all profits go toward the Lewes Historical Society to fund operations.

The quaint 1898 building was purchased by the Lewes Historical Society in 2015.  Executive Director Michael DiPaolo says its high profile location in the heart of Lewes along with the light, airy atmosphere and open space makes the building perfect for the new store.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the week starting May 30 through October.
