‘Doing Time with Lavinia’ musical and cabaret show set July 12

Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Cinema Art Theater will present “Doing Time with Lavinia: The Musical,” followed by a live cabaret show, at 3 and 6 p.m., Saturday, July 12.

“Saturday at The Stonewall” will feature cabaret performers Susan Campanaro, Paul Maisano and Lynn Portas, presented by Lazy Mary Productions.

Told from a jail cell, “Doing Time with Lavinia” tells the raucously boozy tale of Lavinia Draper, a fallen socialite and one-time stand-by for Broadway star Betty Buckley. Lavinia is eternally chasing her pipe dream of becoming an entertainer, and this hilarious take on self-sabotage brings new meaning to the words “making lemonade out of lemons.”

The show is written and performed by Campanaro, with an original emotionally charged score written and performed by Portas. Campanaro has developed the infamous character over the course of 20 years as a gay nightlife headline performer in New York City.
