During the Lewes Tulip Festival, the Cape Gazette asked the following trivia question in their midweek paper: "Which single late-flowering tulip made its debut in 1944 as one of the darkest tulips available?"
I'm used to photographing bright tulips so I didn't even know dark tulips existed. I had to Google to find that the answer was "Queen of the Night." When I came across that very same tulip type at Longwood Gardens after the spring rain last weekend, I almost cried tears of joy.
