Schell Brothers complete Biggest Loser with great results

July 1, 2017

For the last decade, I’ve had the privilege to partner with Schell Brothers to offer a corporate fitness challenge designed to give employees the opportunity to get in better shape and reward them for their hard-earned results. Each year, the contest gets bigger, better and more interesting, and this year was no different. There were 75 participants overall, with 26 employees electing to sign up for my body transformation program to work with our talented trainers. Below are the results and winners for each respective category.

Body fat loss category

In the first category, employees compete to see who can lose the most body fat and build a stronger, healthier body. Since everyone is different, the winners are based on individual results by calculating the overall percentage of body fat lost. The top two participants who lose the largest percentage will have the chance to collect $500 and $200 a month, respectively, for the next year, but there is a catch. They must maintain their new body by testing monthly and staying within 2 percent of their final percentage. So in other words, they could work hard and win this category and not see a dime if they don’t stay in shape. This year’s first-place winner is Mark Moore with an amazing loss of 49.5 percent body fat. He started at 10.8 percent body fat and dropped to an amazing 5.5 percent body fat. A close second place was awarded to Adam Pentengell with 45.5 percent. Waiting in the wings if the winners should fail to stay within the 2 percent buffer are Jill Burton with 39.9 percent and Brian Triscuit with 39.2 percent.

Before-and-after category

To enter this division, participants had to agree to take before and after pictures to be judged. The winners were then determined by who made the most noticeable physical changes. The awards were set at $3,500 for first place, $2,000 for second and $1,000 for third. Although there was a great deal of competition in this category, the winners were a cut above the rest and made dramatic transformations. Coming in at first this year was Jill Burton. Jill lost a total of 32 pounds, but has dropped a total of 54 pounds since she started doing our program five years ago. She looks amazing and is now wearing size extra small. Locking down second place is Adam Pentengell. Adam lost 30 pounds and 45.5 percent body fat, and dramatically changed his appearance, with an impressive transformation. He has built a new muscular, athletic body. The third-place spot was won by Ryan Short, who dropped 26 pounds.

Company health and fitness

Although many companies around the Unites States have offered weight-loss contests and wellness programs, few are as generous and well thought out as this one. Anyone who chose to train with us who lost 17 percent of their starting body fat was reimbursed for half the cost of the program courtesy of Schell Brothers, but if they lost 23 percent, their entire program was covered. In addition, anyone who lost 30 percent of their starting body fat - an impressive accomplishment for sure - was awarded a $1,000 bonus. This year that included Nikki Southard, Brian Triscuit, Travis White, Andrew Rogan, Mark Moore, Adam Pettengell and Jill Burton.

I’d like to say congratulations to the winners and everyone who participated in this great event. I’d also like thank Chris and Preston Schell for their generosity and for supporting such a valuable program, giving employees a chance to learn how to improve their quality of life by using exercise and proper diet.
