Judith McNally Rea, dedicated volunteer

Judith McNally Rea, 82, of Lewes passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at her home. She was born Oct. 30, 1936, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Col. George J. McNally, former head of the White House Communications Agency in Washington D.C., and Thelma (Reidy) McNally.

Mrs. Rea graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame High School in Washington, D.C., followed by Immaculata College, also in Washington, D.C., where she earned an associate's degree. She continued her education at St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Md., where she completed studies for her bachelor's degree. She married Dr. Abraham A. Rea on Feb. 13, 1960, thus beginning many years of cherished memories.

Mrs. Rea was a member of St. Edmond and St. Jude the Apostle sodalities and choirs, the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, Doctors' Wives Sodality, Lewes Homeowners Association, Lewes Historical Society, serving as a museum docent, and was a board member of Lewes Senior Citizens. She enjoyed teaching CCD at St. Edmond Church in Rehoboth and was a dedicated volunteer with Lewes Meals on Wheels, the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Delaware Medical Alliance, where she was an advocate for abused women. Above all, Mrs. Rea was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rea was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Abraham A. Rea; and her brother, Reid G. McNally. She is survived by her daughters: Deborah Rea D'Albora (James), Frances C. Rea, and Lorraine Rea Evangelista (Michael); her granddaughters: Caitlin and Margaret D'Albora; her brother, Robert McNally (Jody); and her nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 4, at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Rea's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes, DE 19958; or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
