Virgil A. ‘Virg’ Brown, real estate appraiser

Virgil A. Brown, 81, of Milton passed away at home Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, with a beautiful smile on his face.  He had recently been diagnosed with MDS cancer.

Virg was born in Baltimore, Md., Jan. 13, 1938.  His father died when Virg was 9 and at that time Virg entered Girard College, an orphanage in Philadelphia.  He graduated in 1956 and became employed by the DuPont Experimental Station as a lab technician.  He married Nancy Biscotti in August 1958.  Virg was a custom builder until 1977 when his family moved to Lewes.  After their move to Lewes, he became a realtor working for Joe Hudson, Tom Crowley and Jack Lingo.  Virg later became a certified appraiser and created Brown Real Estate Appraisers, retiring in 2018.

During his life, Virg was an avid scuba diver and member of an underwater rescue team in Chester County, Pa.  He helped establish the YMCA in Rehoboth and, as well, was an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the vestry and Outreach Committee.

In addition to his father, Virg is preceded in death by a daughter, Kendra West; and his mother, Flora Edgington.

Virg is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; a daughter, Kathy; two sons, Kris and his partner Beth, and Karl and his wife Lori; grandchildren, Ryan Brown, Kassidy Brown, Jenny West, Mike Marino and his wife Fleur, and Joe Marino; and a great-granddaughter, Addison.  

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 23, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 211 Mulberry St., Lewes.
