Rehoboth Art League online classes to start April 21

Registration is required
April 18, 2020

Though the Rehoboth Art League campus is closed, it is continuing to offer remote learning experiences on the Zoom video platform.

An Art Critique class will be offered from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesdays, April 21 to May 9. The class provides a forum for participants’ artistic growth. Whether they are experienced selling artists or work quietly by themselves, all artists are welcome to join. The group will discuss participants’ artwork, finalized or in progress. Attendees will hear how their work is perceived and how it may be enhanced in considering goals for a specific piece. All will share reactions to other participants’ work.

This Art Critique is for fine art, whether representational or abstract. This class will be facilitated by artist Nina Mickelsen, known for her screen print work as well as abstract mixed media. Also participating will be Connie Costigan, professor of fine arts emeritus at George Washington University; abstract expressionist Eileen Olson; and Steve Rogers, acclaimed marine artist. The cost of the five sessions is $20 for members and nonmembers.

Local artist Jamie Moore will introduce participants to Art History: The 20th Century, from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursdays, April 23 to May 14. Participants will investigate the history of 20th century art through dynamic, interactive lectures, visuals and discussions. This time period witnessed the birth and outgrowth of abstraction and other movements amidst radical global changes. The cost of this four-week class is $100 for members and $135 for nonmembers.

Registration is required for all classes. To register, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or email paula@rehobothartleague.org.

All registered students will receive an invitation by email the day before the class with a link to join the class on Zoom. To use Zoom, participants need an internet-connected computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, and a webcam or built-in camera on a computer, as well as a computer microphone.
