Gingham + grace clothing boutique owner Jami Jackson will host the grand opening of its new Harbeson showroom from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 16.
COVID-19 guidelines for wearing face masks and social distancing will be followed. To sign up for a time slot to attend, go to the gingham + grace clothing group on Facebook.
Jackson launched the business on social media in October 2018. Over the past two years, she has sold thousands of hand-selected, affordable pieces to customers in more than 30 states. Gingham + grace carries women’s sizes ranging from XS to 3X with an emphasis on S-XL. New items are posted for shopping on Facebook and Instagram every evening at 8:30 p.m., from Monday to Thursday.
Jackson said one of her favorite parts of owning gingham + grace is her customer base. “It gives me the greatest joy to see a woman who rarely gets any time to herself stop by for an afternoon with girlfriends at a pop-up shop and step outside her comfort zone to try a new style, trend or overall look. You can see the shift in her thinking and feel the confidence she exudes when she finds the piece that is perfect for her.”
Like so many small business owners across the country, Jackson found new ways to adapt and thrive during the pandemic. For gingham + grace, that meant ramping up social media activity to reach customers online.
She has hosted two outdoor, in-person pop-up shops since April, as opposed to the 16 she usually would have had. She has had to find new ways to engage with her customers, market her products and increase communications.
“Through Facebook Live, I have increased the frequency of my virtual pop-up shows. We called them #socialsaturdays or #socialsundays. These shows provided a way for women to socialize and shop with other women. I've started using Zoom and Facebook Live with individual customers upon request so they can see the merchandise and purchase,” said Jackson.
Despite the challenges, Jackson witnessed gingham + grace experiencing a heightened level of online shoppers. “Shopping small, shopping local and supporting small business became even more of a top priority to my customers,” she said.
The new showroom is at 26832 Lewes Georgetown Highway, Building 2, Unit E, Harbeson.
