Photojournalist’s book sales net $14K for veterans

March 7, 2021

Several weeks before Christmas, photojournalist Gary Emeigh offered copies of “The Ink in My Blood,” to anyone who donated at least $35 to the Delaware Veterans Trust Fund.

The 432-page coffee table book with a suggested retail price of $80 documents 50 years of pictures and stories covered by Delaware's two daily newspapers and is a primer on state history.

As of Feb. 14, the project had brought in $13,880 in contributions.

“It represents Mr. Emeigh’s connection to those who serve by someone still engaged in service as a Civil Air Patrol pilot,” said Dave Skocik, president of the Friends of Delaware Veterans, the official pro bono fundraising organization for the trust fund.

A few copies of the book remain available.

The fund is under the auspices of the Commission of Veterans Affairs. All contributions are tax deductible.
