Mom lost 101 pounds, transforming body and quality of life

May 7, 2022

Laura Meredith wasn’t happy. She had just visited the doctor for a routine checkup, and the results were not good. Her weight was 225 pounds – the heaviest it had ever been – and she now needed medication to keep her blood pressure under control. As she drove home from her appointment, she knew she needed to make a change. The choices she made over the next nine months had a huge impact on her health and quality of life.

“Working out and eating healthy had not been a priority for me. I had a lot of changes in my life, such as getting a master’s degree and changing jobs, that took my time away from the gym,” Laura said. However, this wasn’t always the case.

Eight years earlier, Laura was part of a Biggest Loser contest offered by her former employer. Antonio’s Training was hired to run the contest and take a group of employees through our signature 12-week body transformation. Laura not only transformed her body, but also won the contest. However, as time passed and life got busy, she slowly slipped back into old habits and got out of shape. But she never forgot the lessons she learned during the program.

This time, when Laura decided to get back in shape, she pulled out the old program we taught her and followed it for 12 weeks on her own. Her results were incredible. She lost 40 pounds. But she wasn’t sure where to go from there.

“I still needed to lose more weight. I was up to very large cardio sessions and low carbs, and I knew I couldn’t keep doing the same thing, so that’s when I decided to call and sign back up,” said Laura. The results didn’t stop there.

In September 2021, Laura began training with us again and completed another 12-week transformation. She lost an additional 32 pounds. She looked and felt great. She no longer needed her blood pressure medicine, and her strength and stamina were dramatically improved, but she knew she needed more. Together, we decided to do 12 more weeks with the goal of getting her body into optimal shape so her metabolism would fire on all cylinders and make it easier to keep the results she worked so hard to get.

When Laura finished her third and final transformation, she had lost a jaw-dropping 101 pounds. In addition, she had reduced her starting body fat by an amazing 60%, which is the most I have ever seen in 10 years of body fat testing. She now looks and acts like a completely different person, but best of all, she feels great about herself and her progress.

“I can now walk with my head up. I wouldn’t hesitate to let someone take my picture or to wear nice clothes, and there is no doubt I’m more outgoing,” she said.

In addition, she also needed a completely new wardrobe, as her dress size dropped from an 18 to 4.

When I asked her what advice she would offer to others who want to get in shape but but feel they can’t do it, she said, “Just get started, set small goals, and when you achieve some of your goals, you will want to go further.”

Laura also wanted to be a role model for her children.

“My daughters are at an impressionable age, and I wanted to succeed for them. I wanted them to see their mom do something positive,” she said.

There is no doubt she more than accomplished that goal.

Congratulations, Laura, your story will surely motivate others to change their lives and get in shape.
