Construction is well underway at the site of the new Starboard Claw restaurant in Dewey Beach, where workers were busy the morning of August 3 framing walls of the new restaurant.

The project is progressing quickly; on just July 27, workers were installing steel beams onto a large concrete pad.

Restaurant co-owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery, also a principal of The Starboard and Starboard Raw in Dewey, and Bethany Blues in Bethany and Lewes, said the restaurant will feature hard-shell crabs, ribs from Bethany Blues, and Ed’s famous roast chicken from the former Ed’s in Dewey.

“We are finally into the construction and fully permitted now, so full steam ahead with a hopeful completion this winter between December and February,” Montgomery said. “All depends on the supply chain and weather. Looking forward to bringing something special to Dewey by February!”

Longtime employees have also been brought into ownership roles with the new venue, as Keith “Toastie” Kirk of The Starboard and Zach Warner of Bethany Blues will oversee day-to-day operations, Montgomery said.
