Lewes man killed in hit-and-run in Salisbury

A Lewes man riding a scooter was killed Aug. 16 in a hit-and-run crash while crossing Route 13 in Salisbury, Md.

Colin Henny Lin, 29, was riding an Apollo motorized scooter at 3:41 a.m. when he tried to cross the northbound lanes of Route 13 from the center median crossover near Oliphant Street, said Maryland State Police.

Investigators say Lin was in lane number three where he was struck by a commercial vehicle, which appeared to be traveling northbound in lane three. Police are searching for a blue truck with a sleeper berth and a white stripe down the side.  

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack responded to the scene along with deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office and officers from the Salisbury City Police Department. The Office of the State’s Attorney in Wicomico County also responded to the scene. Personnel from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration responded to assist with road closures and detours. The Maryland State Police Crash Team is leading the investigation.

Lin was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical services personnel.
