Cape girls’ tennis slams Milford on Senior Day

Vikings improve to 8-1 on the season

The Cape girls’ tennis squad celebrated its Class of 2023 with a 5-0 victory over Milford April 26.

Seniors Josie Pyryt, Morgan Green and Noa Aboutboul were recognized before the match.

Cape’s Rachel Ramjattansingh defeated Laura Fulton 6-1, 6-1 at first singles. Aboutboul took down Milford’s Laila Brown at second singles 6-0, 6-0. Third singles was won by Green 6-3, 6-2 over Milford’s Carmen Perez.

Cape’s first doubles team of Kathryn Costello and Sia Patel defeated the Bucs’ Virginia Riem and Sofia Lopez 6-1, 6-1. The second doubles team of Mya DiSabatino and Kyli Doyon-Baridon defeated Milford’s Porsha Hood and Cyarra Ortiz 6-0, 6-0.

The Vikings are 8-1, while the Bucs are 2-5-1.

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
