After a brief delay, the Milton Farmers Market opened for the season June 2. The market is open 3:30 to 6 p.m., every Friday.

Now located on the empty lot next to the Milton Historical Society, the market is operated this year by the Cape Community Fund.

Town officials, members of the Cape Community Fund and Milton Chamber members held a ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of the market.

Vice Mayor Lee Revis-Plank said it was a good thing to have the market back open. It gets the weekend started off right, she said.

The Milton Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary had operated the Broadkill Farmers Market on Front Street for the past couple of years, but organizers decided to step away from operations this year.

Proceeds from market sales will go to support the Cape Community Fund, which provides critically needed resources to families in the Cape Henlopen School District who have suffered from accident, illness or unexpected catastrophe.
