BatFest benefits Beebe Medical Foundation

Other Revival House events highlight movie greats Jaws, Jurassic Park and Star Wars
August 30, 2023

It wasn’t in Gotham, and there wasn’t a bat signal in the sky, but that didn’t matter to those attending BatFest at Hudson Fields near Milton Aug. 26.

Sponsored and organized by Revival House, the event benefited the Beebe Medical Foundation. It was the fourth in Revival’s series of events to benefit the hospital, including Jawsfest, Jurassic Fest and Star Wars Fest. Each festival has ended with an outdoor showing of one of the classic movies in each franchise.

The most recent event concluded with the 1989 version of “Batman,” which starred Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader. Another is scheduled in 2025.

BatFest included live music, children’s activities, food trucks and a costume contest. Artist Teresa Rodriguez contributed artwork just for BatFest, with the bat signal shining from a Lewes lighthouse. Revelation Craft Brewery had a special beer for the festival called Brand X.

Bat trivia: How many actors have portrayed Batman on the silver screen? Ben Affleck has appeared in five films; Christian Bale in three; Michael Keaton in two; Robert Pattinson in one; Val Kilmer in one; and George Clooney in two. Affleck, Keaton and Clooney all appeared in the most recent movie, “The Flash,” which was not a hit with critics. That does not include dozens and dozens of animations and crossover films, and also not the TV show, which aired from 1966-68.

Revival House celebrates going to the movies by sharing the experience of film and presenting programs that are entertaining, unique and fun. Go to therevivalhousetheater.com for more information.
