The Rite-Aid store at 8898 Rehoboth Mall Blvd. is now permanently closed.
A sign on the door thanks customers for their patience and kindness. A QR code directs people to other Rite-Aid locations nearby.
But those locations will soon be shuttered too, along with hundreds more nationwide.
The Rite-Aid at 444 Savannah Road is slated to close for good Sunday, June 29.
On June 17, the shelves of the Lewes store were nearly empty. Greeting cards, makeup and some over-the-counter medications were among the items still available at discounts up to 75% off.
Even the shelves and fixtures were for sale. Everything must go.
A sign on the counter said, after June 12, prescriptions would be available at another local pharmacy.
Rite-Aid filed for bankruptcy in 2023 and again this past May.
The company announced it is closing about 829 stores nationwide, including at least 16 in Delaware.
