Jack Bain
Jack had a great showing at the YMCA East Field South District Championships last weekend, winning the 500 and 1,000 free, the 200 fly, and the 200 and 400 individual medley races in the 15-18 division. He was also on the winning 200 medley relay, took a silver in the 200 back and was part of the 200 and 400 medley relays that finished second. “Jack has made phenomenal improvement throughout this winter swim season,” said Sussex Tsunami head coach Mike Vansant. “He is a shining example that the work put in at practice will pay off in competition. It's tough to find someone who trains harder than Jack, and it definitely showed at this past weekend’s meet.”
Gabe Blanshine
Gabe had an exceptional performance in the pool at the YMCA East Field South District Championships last weekend, winning the 200 individual medley, and the 50 and 100 back. He also took second in the 200 medley relay along with teammates Abe James, Graham Knowlton and Joey Bradshaw. Individually, he also finished third in the 200 and 500 free competitions. “Gabe has made a huge jump in his swimming performance this season,” said Sussex Tsunami head coach Mike Vansant. “He has been a rising star and exceptional leader in the boys’ 11-12 age group throughout the entire season.”
Eva Csaszar
“Eva has had an exceptional swim season this year,” said Sussex Tsunami head coach Mike Vansant. “At this past weekend’s YMCA District Championship meet, she made the podium in all seven of her events. Eva recently qualified for YMCA Nationals and will be taking the trip with the national team in two weeks.” At the district event, Eva won the 100 and 200 back; took second in the 50 back, 100 free, 500 free; and third in the 50 free and 500 free. In the relays, she was part of the winning 200 and 400 medley relays, and the second-place 200 and 400 free relays. She set new Tsunami team records in the 50, 100 and 200 back, and was part of the team-record-setting 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relays.
Lea Jaoude
Lea reached the podium four times at the YMCA East Field South District Championships last weekend. She won the 50 and 100 breast, while taking the runner-up spot in the 200 breast and third place in the 200 individual medley. She joined Eva Csaszar on the winning 200 and 400 medley relay teams and the second-place 200 free relay. She joined three other teammates to take second in the 400 free relay. “Lea set the goal of making it to YMCA Nationals from a very early point in the season,” said Sussex Tsunami head coach Mike Vansant. “She has been working hard and plugging away, and finally achieved that goal at this past weekend’s YMCA District Championship.”
