Local Easter Seals receives more than $20K from Safeway campaign

Thanks to some enthusiastic Safeway employees and generous shoppers, Easter Seals Delaware and Maryland’s Eastern Shore recently welcomed a contribution of $20,073 from local Safeway stores to help children and adults with disabilities in the region receive the services they need. Earlier this year, Safeway stores raised funds to help children and adults with disabilities by asking shoppers to donate to Easter Seals at checkout as part of their annual Support for People With Disabilities campaign.

“I would like to thank Safeway and their customers for their ongoing support of Easter Seals and our mission to find solutions for independence for individuals with disabilities of all ages and abilities,” said Cynthia Morgan, Easter Seals Board of Directors chair. “It is through the generous donations from the community, like the Safeway campaign, that we are able to meet the needs of more than 25,000 people with disabilities through direct and indirect services each year in our region.”

The monthlong fundraising campaign helps provide life-changing services to the people who come to Easter Seals for service. Since 2006, Safeway has raised more than $150,000 to serve children and adults with disabilities in Delaware and on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, including a $23,000 grant that was used to support Easter Seals Children’s Therapy in Kent County.
