The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 15 for Troops Barbecue & Catering. Members of the chamber’s Meet & Greet Committee were present to welcome Troops to the organization.
After providing an annual Father’s Day BBQ for six years for the guys and gals at Walter Reed Army Medical Center through a nonprofit organization known as Delaware Community Appreciation Group, or DCAG, owners Butch and Linda Elzey decided to start a for-profit business, now known as Troops Barbecue & Catering. The name was chosen in remembrance of the business's founding and as a way to continually honor U.S. military heroes.
Started in 2010, Troops has grown significantly over the last four years. Troops Barbecue & Catering is available for any type of event from birthdays to weddings to festivals. It is known for smoked pulled pork mixed with the owners' own homemade Alabama-style barbecue sauce. Troops has a wide variety of menu items, ranging from Certified Angus Beef burgers and hot dogs to short ribs, smoked turkey breast, and smoked barbecue chicken, just to name a few. All sides are homemade. Troops takes pride in the cleanliness of its equipment and enjoys interactions with customers and the public at events.
