Rehoboth's new Coastal Wedding Chapel offers couples a venue to tie the knot at the beach but not necessarily on the beach.
At Fortier Photography, business partners Sue Fortier and Janet Layden launched their new wedding chapel for couples in search of a convenient and affordable place to tie the knot in Rehoboth Beach.
"A lot of people want to get married at the beach but don't want to get married on the beach," she said. "We are the alternative between the beach and city hall."
The new wedding chapel opened in June and is accepting reservations for later this summer and fall, Fortier said. Already the business is booming, she said.
Layden, one of two officiants at the new chapel, said the services at Fortier Photography are ideal for an elopement or for couples who want a small ceremony with close friends and family.
The studio is available for planned ceremonies and as a back up in cases of inclement weather on the beach, she said.
"When the wedding is over, the dress may not fit; the cake has been eaten," she said. "But what you have with us is the promise that we don't just take a picture, we give your memory back to you."
Several wedding packages are available, ranging from a private ceremony with just the couple to a wedding ceremony on location and in collaboration with other local business to provide transportation or after-party services.
The Coastal Wedding Chapel will take care of the ceremony and photos and will work with other businesses to help couples arrange receptions or dinner services.
"We are your one-stop photographer," Fortier said. "And you can come here and get married too."
The Coastal Wedding Chapel recently hosted an open house for other local businesses interested in a referral network with the chapel, for services such as hotels, transportation and dining.
Coastal Wedding Chapel at Fortier Photography is located in the shopping center at 37169 Rehoboth Ave. Ext. For more information, call 302-604-2646, or go to www.suefortier.com.
