Louis J. Di Amico, retired pressman

Louis J. DiAmico, 77, of Lewes, formerly of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Wilmington, Louis was the son of the late Louis and Frances (Rainone) DiAmico. He was also predeceased by his wife Antoinette "Nin" (Talmo).

Lou retired in 2000 as a pressman after 42 years of service with The News Journal Company. He was a member of St. Edmond Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, as well as maintaining membership in the Piedmont Lodge, St. Anthony's Holy Name Society, and the Rehoboth VFW.

Lou is survived by his two children and their spouses, Antoinette and Mark Fontana of Newark, and Louis and Jeanne of Lewes. He is also cherished by his four grandchildren, Mark and Madelyn Fontana, and Deana (Joseph) DeMaio and Nicole DiAmico, and great-grandchildren Julena and Joey. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Alex Talmo; and long time and faithful companion, Mary Ruth (MR) Wilson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Jan. 6,  at 11 a.m., at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington. Family and friends may call at the Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington, Tuesday, Jan. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be no Wednesday morning calling hours. Entombment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
