Cape girls’ lax beats Tower Hill to advance to finals

Buckaloo and Bragg each rolled a six for 12 of Cape’s 21 goals May 24, as the Vikings held off a strong challenge from Tower Hill to win 21-12 in the semifinal round and advance to the championship May 26 at Delaware State University. 

Maren Buckaloo and Kelly Bragg each posted career-best goal production for a single game, while Ella Rishko and Lulu Risko scored four and three goals, respectively, and Molly Mendes completed the scoring with two goals. 

The Hillers got a beastly performance from Bella Gatuso, who scored six, while Lucy Nace had four goals and dominated the draw. Sophia Bellingham completed the scoring for the Hillers.

Lulu Rishko and Molly Mendes recorded five and four assists, respectively.  

Cape had a 29-22 advantage in shots.

Anna Lopez had seven saves for the Vikings, while freshman Emily O’Hara had four saves for the Hillers. 

Cape led Tower Hill 13-10, then 14-11 well into the second half, but closed with a 7-0 run. 

Tatnall beat Sussex Academy 17-8 in the other semifinal game to set up a Thursday night rematch of last year's state championship final. Game time is 6 p.m.
