Cape girls’ tennis turns out the Knights

Vikings remain undefeated

The Cape girls’ tennis team moved to 3-0 on the season with a 5-0 win over visiting Sussex Central April 1 at the Cape courts. The Golden Knights are 1-2.

Samatha Connors defeated Olivia Fox 6-1, 6-0 in the first singles match. Vikings second singles player Noa Aboutboul defeated Olivia Marzullo 6-0, 6-0. In the third singles match, Mackenzie Vitolo downed Central’s Marta Yoc-Perez 6-0, 6-0.

Cape’s first doubles team of Rachel Ramjattansingh and Juliana Warnock defeated Central’s Carmela Marzullo and Chelsea Richie 6-0, 6-2. The Vikings’ second doubles duo of Madison Costello and Sia Patel downed Kyleigh McGee and and Olivia Johnson 6-1, 6-1.

The Lady Vikings travel to the Peninsula Golf & Country Club to face Sussex Academy Monday, April 4, while the Golden Knights host Caesar Rodney.

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
