Cape soccer saddled by Riders 5-0

April 29, 2022

The Caesar Rodney soccer squad ran past Cape 5-0 April 28 at Champions Stadium.

The Riders made Vikings keeper Brianna Burrell the busiest person on the turf, booting 13 shots her way. She stopped eight of them. Cape could only muster one shot on the Riders’ goal.

Gabrielle Davis tallied two goals for the Riders while Allyson Durham, Olivia Hudson and Kailyn Maull each hit the twine once. Hudson was credited with two assists.

“CR is a strong team and we were outmatched,” said Cape coach Patrick Kilby. “We made a strong effort to hang and fight with them, and I am proud of our efforts. We are having a very strong season, and we will continue to grow and find success. We now have to prep for Sussex Central, a team that beat us last year. We will prepare for them and work to rectify that result from last season.”

Cape moves to 6-3, while the Riders are 9-2.

Cape travels to Central Thursday, May 5.
