The Cape soccer squad battled the Odessa High Ducks to a 1-1 tie in the chilly-weather scrimmage March 11 at Legends Stadium.
“We were missing five veteran players due to injury,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “We got a strong look at our freshmen and sophomore girls. I was very pleased with the way we played. We still need to work on gamesmanship, meaning we went up 1-0 and we did not match Odessa’s intensity as they attempted to tie the game. That lack of intensity cost us the win. We will continue to work on game recognition, as we have a strong youth movement in our program that is looking to gain more experience.”
Cadence McMahon scored the lone goal for Cape off an assist by Charlotte Bjorklund.
The Ducks’ lone goal was scored by Emma Funk.
The Vikings will open their Henlopen Conference schedule Monday, March 21, with Indian River at Champions Stadium.
