Coastal Camera Club celebrates 25th anniversary

April 19, 2026

The 2025-26 program season marks 25 years since the founding of the Coastal Camera Club in Lewes. The anniversary year will culminate Wednesday, May 13, with a celebratory banquet for members and their guests at the Lewes Yacht Club.

“A dedicated team of volunteers has worked diligently for months to assemble a program of photographs and memorabilia from the past to illustrate the rich history of the Coastal Camera Club,” said Club President Douglas Strande.

Thirteen photography enthusiasts who shared a vision of fostering a community of creative artists in Lewes founded the Coastal Camera Club 25 years ago. Through dedication and passion, the club has grown into a thriving community of more than 300 members, reflecting the enduring appeal of photography as both an art form and a means of storytelling.

The club enriches its members through monthly programs presented by nationally recognized photographers, offering ongoing education, inspiration and exposure to the highest levels of photographic excellence. Also held monthly, competitions provide members with practical experience and feedback to continually grow and improve their photographic craft. Special-interest groups furnish an opportunity for members to explore particular genres or techniques in greater depth. Photographic exhibitions at local venues around the region let members display their work for the public to enjoy and contribute to the artistic vitality of area communities.

The Coastal Camera Club demonstrates a deep commitment to community service through a dedicated group of members who provide professional-quality photography support to nonprofit organizations and local groups that could not otherwise afford such services. An annual event, the Virtual Beach Bash, is open to the general public and features acclaimed photographers speaking to an audience of over 500 attendees from across the United States and around the world. It raises funds for a scholarship to support students taking visual communication courses at Delaware Technical Community College, and brings recognition and distinction to the state of Delaware.

Membership is open to everyone interested in improving and exploring photography as a means of expression, regardless of their level of technical proficiency. For information, visit CoastalCameraClub.com or send inquiries to info@CoastalCameraClub.com.
