Henry 'Pop' Loftin Jr., retired from DOC

Henry E. "Pop" Loftin Jr. passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2014. Mr. Loftin had served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. Afterwards, he had been a correctional officer for 21 years with the Delaware Correctional Center and the Morris Correctional Center in Dover.

Pop was a resident of Wyoming for over 30 years and enjoyed sitting on his porch and waving to the people who went by. He was a member of the Elks Lodge. Pop enjoyed reading, Westerns, and playing the slots. Pop was the type of person who always supported his family and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Mr. Loftin was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Laura R. Loftin. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry Loftin Sr. and Ilene Loftin; by his brother, Jack Loftin, and by his extended family Laura Tribbett. Pop is survived by his two children, Kimberly J. Minnick of Long Neck and her partner Skip Bassford, and Jack M. Loftin and his wife Lisa of Dover; his brother, Bobby J. Loftin of Kingman, Ariz.; five grandchildren: Sareana Feaster (Kenneth), Jesse Engelgau, Ryan Minnick (Samantha), Katie Loftin (Justin Hartnett) and Samuel Loftin; and four great-grandchildren: Kylie Hastings, Lillian Feaster, Elena-Reign Engelgau and Layla Minnick.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. There will be a viewing at the funeral home Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
