Lord Baltimore Lions donate park bench in Millville

October 9, 2022

The Lord Baltimore Lions Club recently donated a new bench for Evans Park in Millville.

For the presentation, members gathered in the park Sept. 19 with Mayor Ron Belinko and members of Millville Town Council.

The Lions have been looking forward to providing the bench to be enjoyed by the many adults and children who treasure the playground and open space on Dukes Drive in Millville.

Lord Baltimore Lions Club members received this Trex bench for participating in an environmental project, collecting enough plastic for recycling over a period of time to earn a bench. Scott Brannan, club environmental chair,  spearheaded the six-month effort along with the support of immediate past President Karl Gude and Service Chair Jack Bauer. Once the club decided on a place to donate the new bench, club member and Millville Councilman Bob Wisgirda made the connection and arranged for the presentation.

As he thanked the Lord Baltimore Lions, Mayor Ron Belinko said, “We opened the park with a vision of bringing the community together, and with the gift of this bench, the Lions are helping us move forward in realizing this vision for community."

In addition to preserving the environment, Lord Baltimore Lions embrace the other Lions Club International world causes of vision, diabetes awareness, combating hunger and joining the fight to defeat childhood cancer. Locally, the Lions support other causes involving youth and supporting local citizens in need.
