Mary T. ‘May’ Owens, loved Lewes visits

July 22, 2012

Mary T. “May” Owens passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, in her home at Ann’s Choice, Warminster, Pa.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, of 65 years. Their family life was spent in Harrisburg, Pa., Lancaster, Pa. and finally in Allentown, Pa., where Bill retired from PP&L. May was the mother of Denise M. Jackson, and the grandmother of Julie T., Patrick L. and Barbara D. Jackson. She had one daughter-in-law, Patsy; and two sons-in-law, Brian and Tom; 12 grandchildren; four great-granddaughters who called her GiGi; and a dear sister, Barbara Baehr.

May attended The Little Flower and graduated from St. Hubert’s High School in Philadelphia, Pa. She loved her summer home in Ocean City, N.J., and left there in June in high spirits, after her daughters, Patti, Denise and Maryanne, and son, Bill, sisters-in-laws, grandchildren, nieces and nephews had spent some leisurely summer days with her. May and Bill traveled to Lewes over the past 30 years for births, Christmases, their grandchildren’s school and sports activities and graduations.  May was certain to be present at granddaughter Julie’s last high school baseball game at Cape, and she and Bill enjoyed visiting his alma mater, Villanova, when Julie was a student there.

May was last in Lewes for her grandson, Patrick’s wedding in October when he married Jami Faust. She finally got to see Barbara, who came home from Stockholm.  Barbara also came home just recently from Stockholm to visit her grandmother, and May’s sister, Barbara, supplied May’s favorite take out dinners from the shore for wonderful family times.  May’s faith, determination and courage will always be a source of inspiration to her family and friends.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice for their extraordinary care in our time of need. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Hubert’s alumni or to hospice.
