Roland M. Pattinson Jr., postal service retiree
Roland M. Pattinson Jr., 85, of Millsboro, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at his home with his loving family by his side. Born Feb. 27, 1927, in Darby, Pa.., he was the son of the late Roland M. and Helen (Snyder) Pattinson.
Roland served in the U.S. Army, 9th Traffic Regulation Group during World War II. He was an assistant scout leader of Sharon Hill Troop 107, in Pennsylvania. He also operated Pattinson & Sons Auto Repair in Darby for many years. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1988. Roland loved fishing.
Roland is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth (Smiley) Pattinson of Millsboro; three sons: Roland and wife Karen, Joseph and wife Kimmy and Lawrence Pattinson; six grandchildren: Joyce and husband Mike Sherick, Michelle Pattinson, Nicholas Pattinson and wife Samantha, Matthew Pattinson, Lauren Pattinson and Brittany Pattinson; his sister Irene Murphy; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Roland was preceded in death by his brothers, Jack and George, a sister Virginia, and granddaughter Laura.
Funeral services and interment will be private. Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Laura E. Pattinson Memorial Scholarship Fund, 24 South 3rd Street, Oxford, PA 19363.
