October 17, 2022

The Cape soccer team moved to 8-1 on the season with a 2-1 win over Milford Oct. 13 at Legends Stadium. Milford is 6-4-1.

Cardin Benjamin started the Vikings off quickly, hitting the twine just one minute into the game off a pass from Niko Panyko. Two minutes later, Jack Schell got the game-winner from Aldo Hernandez-Becerra.

Milford’s Thompson Burke brought the Bucs within one with an unassisted goal at 19 minutes. But the Vikings held on during the back-and-forth action of the second half.

Cape outshot the Bucs 8-6 and held a 6-3 advantage in corners.

Goalie Dru Schneider made five stops for the Vikings, while Fernando Flores made six saves for the Bucs.

“It was great to be tested for 80 minutes,” said Cape head coach Patrick Kilby. “Milford has a very strong team, and they tested us at the highest level. We got off to a quick start with two goals and we were able to hang onto the win.”
