Kidz Klozet opens in Milton
When Jamie Pinkstaff, mother of four, watched her children grow up, she realized her children’s growth spurts left her with lightly used clothing. So, the stay-at-home mother decided to open up an upscale resale store to bring together families who no longer need bibs and onesies with those looking for decent, reasonably priced garments.
Pinkstaff opened up Kidz Klozet Saturday, May 1, on Route 16 in Milton. A stone’s throw from Food Lion, Pinkstaff offers children’s clothes, baby accessories, toys and shoes. The selection includes new merchandise and cheaper gently used clothing, she said.
“I’m buying and selling used clothes up to size 12,” she said.
Pinkstaff also wanted to make the shopping experience fun and easy. Inside the store, she built a children’s recreation area into the roughly 2,000-square-foot space.
Enclosed by a foot-high wall, children can play with toys and watch “Dora the Explorer” on a flat-screen TV while their mothers look for jeans, dresses, shorts and polo shirts.
“It’s all about making it mom-and kid-friendly,” she said.
For those looking to sell, Pinkstaff also buys name-brand clothes and accessories, such as Gimboree, Gap Kids and Strasburg Children’s Clothing. She also pays cash.
“It’s good timing right now in this economy,” she said.
In an effort to make it a special shopping experience for families, Pinkstaff also offers prizes and snacks for good kids.
“It’s an upscale resale store. People usually think thrift in a different way, but I’m really trying to offer something unique for the area,” she said.
Kidz Klozet is located in the former RE/MAX Realty building on Route 16 in Milton, at 211 Broadkill Road.
The store is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and closed on Sunday with extended summer hours.
