February 11, 2026

Cape Henlopen High School has officially been chartered as a chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the national high school and two-year college mathematics honor society.

Students newly inducted into membership are Shouta Sano, Nathanial Hoang, Ava Lewis, Kellan Leposki, Theodore Noe Fellows, Sullivan Naden, Dang Nguyen and Annika Haney.

Mu Alpha Theta promotes interest in mathematics by encouraging scholarship, fostering enthusiasm for problem-solving and providing opportunities for students to participate in competitions, community outreach and collaborative learning experiences. Membership is extended to students who demonstrate strong academic performance and a passion for mathematics.

“This chapter was created because of our students’ excitement for math and their eagerness to take learning to the next level,” said Dr. Amie King, Cape Henlopen High School math teacher and chapter advisor. “Their passion and initiative are what make Mu Alpha Theta such a meaningful opportunity, and we are proud of the dedication they bring to their academic pursuits.”

Becoming a Mu Alpha Theta chapter allows Cape Henlopen High School students to connect with peers nationwide who share a love for math while engaging in activities that support both personal growth and academic achievement. Students will have opportunities to participate in math competitions, tutoring initiatives and service projects that promote mathematical literacy within the school and the broader community.

This designation recognizes the school’s commitment to academic excellence and provides high-achieving mathematics students with opportunities for enrichment, leadership and service.
