April 16, 2026

The Cape boys’ lacrosse team moved to 5-1 on the season with a 19-0 running-clock victory over Polytech April 15 at Legends Stadium.

Senior Grant Conway added to his stat resume with seven goals and an assist. His cousin Braddock Smith and sophomore Grady Trivits each scored three goals, with Smith picking up a helper.

Senior Ryan Morgan and sophomore AJ Grapski each hit the twine twice. Pierce Conway and Brenner Short each scored a goal, with Short adding three assists.

Cape goalie Mason Trench was credited with six saves, while Patrick Little stopped three shots in relief.

“We need to start a little faster,” said Cape coach Geoff Shupard. “We came out flat and it took us a while to get into the game.”

The Cape coach was quick to give kudos to the Panthers for their program.

“Polytech is really improving,” he said. “They hung in there and never gave up and had a lot of sportsmanship through out the game.”

The Vikings travel west on Route 9 Friday, April 17, to face the Ravens of Sussex Tech.
