Philip Morton Gallery to feature works of Steve Kowalski
Philip Morton Gallery is proud to feature over 30 works by Steve Kowalski with an opening reception from 530 to 830 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13.
Kowalski has lived in Schenectady, N.Y. for the better part of his life. In 1979, he received an associates degree from SUNY Cobleskill in landscape management. After graduation he moved to Arizona. While working days, he shifted his studies to art, taking classes in the evening. The first two classes were Life Drawing and Basic Design.
Ten years later, he spent time living on St. Croix. He completed a degree in fine arts, with a concentration in sculpture at the College of St. Rose in Albany, N.Y. in 1998.
In early 2000, Kowalski began attending a figure-drawing group on the Union College campus. Though the group met regularly, there were no lessons or critiques. In June of that year, he felt he had come into his own with the charcoal drawing – his version of Odilisque. “It has all the elements of art that are pleasing to me in a black and white drawing.”
This exhibit at Philip Morton Gallery runs through Nov. 30, with a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception at the gallery 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Philip Morton Gallery is located at 47 Baltimore Ave. between in Rehoboth Beach. For more information and a preview of the collection, go to FACEBOOK page, call 302-727-0905 or email at info@philipmortongallery.com.
