CASA Delaware turns 40

July 1, 2022

The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program Delaware held a celebration event to honor its volunteers and its 40th anniversary.

CASA Delaware’s mission is to be a voice for Delaware’s abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers advocate for children in foster care to ensure their best interests are met both in the courtroom and the community.

CASA of the Year honors were awarded to Dianne Rogers, Sussex County; Velma Richardson, Kent County; and Linda Busacca, New Castle County.

There are 220 current CASA volunteers who advocate for more than 300 children and young adults in Delaware.

“CASAs are the heart of our program. These caring individuals take on this role to ensure the rights of children are protected. We celebrate their efforts, our program and its staff. Now more than ever, we need more CASAs,” said Missy Palokas, CASA Delaware state director.
