Donna Lawson Owens, 83, of Georgetown, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to family and education.
Born Aug. 22, 1942, in Millsboro, she was the daughter of the late Ralph E. Lawson and Novella Walters. She was lovingly raised with the support of Lucien and Ruth Lenhart, and Albert and Mildred Lawson. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack F. Owens.
Donna was a proud graduate of Millsboro High School Class of 1960. She continued her education at Goldey-Beacom College, where she earned a secretarial diploma, and later attended Delaware Technical Community College–Owens Campus, earning her associate degree. Her passion for lifelong learning led her to Wilmington University, where she completed both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Donna dedicated over 30 years of service to Delaware Technical Community College – Owens Campus, where she was a valued and respected employee. Her commitment to education and her work left a lasting impact on colleagues and students alike.
She is survived by her loving family, Timothy Esham (Susan), Shannon Owens (Lee Johnson), Jack “Jay” F. Owens Jr. (Katie), and Kara Raab (Steve); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister, Mona Wyatt; and her cousin, Aleta Esham (Billy).
Donna will be remembered for her strength, devotion to family, generosity, and patience. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family may visit from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, at Short Funeral Services in Georgetown, with a service immediately following.
