Jeopardy! often stumps the smartest of people, but most, if not all, Sussex Countians were bound to get at least one answer correct during the Dec. 28 airing of the long-running quiz show.
The clue: “In Lewes in this state, ‘The First Town in the First State,’ don’t miss the shops & fun of … Second Street.’”
It quickly received a correct response from Chas Abdel-Nabi, a learning developer from Decatur, Ga.
The clue was featured as part of the first-round category Streets of America.
Unfortunately, Abdel-Nabi’s knowledge of Delaware was not rewarded in the end, as he was unable to double his money in the Final Jeopardy round. Reigning champion Amy Schneider extended her streak to 20 straight games.
And, yes, guest host Ken Jennings pronounced Lewes correctly.
Lewes Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Betsy Reamer said it was a nice honor for the city.
“I can’t wait to see if we get people calling for information about Lewes after seeing the Jeopardy question!” she said Dec. 29. “It’s a great recognition for Lewes.”
